As the chief scientist of collaborative Innovation Center for Intelligent Planning of Urban Aggroup in Yangtze River Delta, Tongji University, he and Academician Wu Zhiqiang of Tongji University jointly lead the research and development of Dynamic monitoring database of Urban and rural areas in Yangtze River Delta and world's Largest City Database (CBDB), realizing breakthroughs in infrastructure, data storage and analysis technology in many aspects. In this way, more than 20 billion pieces of effective data can be integrated and shared across disciplines, departments and regions. On this basis, the team further innovated and proposed the intelligent assessment, monitoring, diagnosis technology and evaluation system of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, realizing real-time monitoring and risk warning of social, resource, economic, security, environment and other issues, laying a solid foundation of big data analysis platform for the integrated fine governance and emergency response of the Yangtze River Delta.
Herzog has also provided technical support and suggestions for the "City Game Model" and the urban intelligent deduction and diagnosis platform developed by Academician Wu Zhiqiang's team, and applied the results to the intelligent planning and construction of many cities in the Yangtze River Delta, such as Shanghai Maqiao, Kunshan, Ningbo, Jinhua, Taizhou and Shaoxing.
In 2020, in the face of the sudden outbreak of COVID - 19, herzog take the bull by the horns, as the first batch of foreign experts were invited to return to China, arrived in Shanghai from the isolation period after beginning to focus on using artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning algorithms, in epidemic prevention and control, data mining will be epidemic prevention measures for China to focus on community provide strong scientific support.
