Disadvantages: cylindrical lithium iron batteries generally use steel shell package, although the safety is higher, but the weight will be heavier, which will also make the specific energy of lithium battery pack is relatively low.


Square lithium iron battery


Advantages: square lithium iron battery package shells are mostly aluminum alloy and stainless steel materials, the battery internal winding or laminated process, the protection of the cell is better than the soft pack lithium battery, the safety of the cell compared to the cylindrical lithium battery also has a greater improvement.


Disadvantages: square lithium iron battery pack can be customized according to the size of the product, but therefore also makes the market has many different models of square lithium batteries. And too many different models of lithium batteries will lead to the process is difficult to unify, making the level of automation is not high, the large variability of the single, there may also be a group of square lithium battery pack is much lower than the life of a single lithium battery.


Second, the difference between square and cylindrical characteristics


1. Battery shape: square lithium batteries can be any size, and soft pack batteries can be made thinner, which can not be compared to the cylindrical battery.


2. Multiplier characteristics: cylindrical lithium battery welding multi-pole lug process limitations, so the multiplier characteristics are slightly worse than the square multi-pole lug program.


3. Discharge platform: the same cathode material, cathode material, electrolyte, so theoretically the discharge platform is the same, but the square battery internal resistance slightly dominant, so the discharge platform is slightly higher.


4. Product quality: cylindrical lithium battery process is very mature, the pole piece has a low chance of secondary slitting defects, and the winding process is more mature than the stacking process and the degree of automation is higher stacking process is still using a semi-manual method, so there is a negative impact on the quality of the battery.


5. Lug welding: cylindrical lithium battery lugs are easier to weld than square lithium batteries, square batteries are easy to produce false welding affects the quality of the battery.
