TOA SE, a leading manufacturing solutions provider in the United States, recently installed a new AGV system at a Toyota forklift plant. These AGVs transfer the forklift powertrain from the powertrain assembly line to the main assembly line. The previous AGVs used in this system were nearing the end of their life cycle and did not meet the required safety standards. TOA SE offers three new and greatly improved AGVs with better safety systems and significantly improved process efficiency.

Every new AGV uses a dual-drive L-Cart kit. The AGV navigates by magnetic strips placed in concrete along the AGV's route. The frame of the AGV, as well as the powered roller conveyor on top of the AGV, was designed from the ground up by mechanical engineers to handle the 2,600-pound capacity of a fully-loaded powertrain pallet. Control engineers at TOA SE designed the control and safety systems for the AGV. Omron NX1P PLC is used for control. The upgraded safety of the AGV includes a safety scanner.
Throughout the project, TOA SE worked closely with Toyota forklifts to ensure the design and installation of these AGVs went smoothly.
