The Ministry of Economy of Economy of Argentina announced that five renewable energy projects have been included in the Argentine National Interconnection System (SADI), three of which are photovoltaic projects. These projects are Sierra de Ullum (58 MW), Sierra de Ullum - B (20 MW), and Ca ñ ada Honda IV (0.71 MW), totaling 78.71 MW, all located in San Juan Province.
The competition pattern in Argentina's photovoltaic market is relatively fierce, with not only local enterprises participating, but also enterprises from Europe, China, the United States and other regions competing. As of the end of 2021, the total installed capacity of the Argentine photovoltaic market has exceeded 1.4GW. Among them, 2019 and 2020 were the peak periods of the Argentine photovoltaic market, with approximately 500MW and 700MW of installed capacity added respectively.
Although Argentina is one of the countries with the highest reserves in the world, it does not have a dominant position in the industry of producing components, inverters, or batteries. The Argentine government has introduced multiple policies to support the development of photovoltaic power generation.
The goal of the Argentine government is to achieve a domestic renewable energy electricity supply rate of 20% by 2025.
