Basic types and roles of medical robots

A medical robot is a robot used for medical or paramedical treatment in hospitals and clinics. It is an intelligent service robot that can prepare an operation plan alone, determine the action program based on the actual situation, and then turn the action into the movement of the operating mechanism. Medical robots, which can recognize the surrounding situation and themselves - the robot's consciousness and self-awareness - are engaged in medical or paramedical treatment and other tasks.

Basic types of medical robots

There are many types of medical robots, and according to their uses, there are robots for clinical medical use, nursing robots, medical teaching robots, and robots for disabled people.

1、Hospital delivery robots

Intelligent delivery robots are mainly responsible for delivering medicines and meals into isolation areas, as well as collecting uniforms and medical waste in hospitals. Through the intelligent scheduling of the "brain" control center, they can realize the functions of opening and closing doors, taking elevators, avoiding obstacles and charging independently, without the need for human operation. The cabinet is equipped with ultraviolet disinfection lamp, which can keep the safety of the box and the items at all times. The robot also has a remote real-time voice and video communication function, and can communicate directly with nurses or patients in isolation wards through the dispatch system. The drug delivery robot can replace nurses to deliver meals, cases and labs, etc. [1]

2、Mobile patient robots: mainly help nurses move or transport paralyzed, and mobility-impaired patients.

3、Robots for clinical medical use

In 2005, the U.S. military invested $12 million in the "Battlefield Trauma System". This robot device is placed in tanks and armored vehicles, wartime through the doctor's instructions from headquarters, the robot can be simple surgery on the wounded, stabilize their injuries waiting for rescue.

4、Robots for the disabled

Robots for the disabled, also known as rehabilitation robots, can help people with disabilities to restore their independent living ability, such as the U.S. Prab Command system.

5、Nursing robots

British scientists are developing a nursing robot, can be used to share the heavy and trivial care work of nursing staff. The newly developed nursing robot will help health care workers to identify patients and accurately distribute the required medication. In the future, the nursing robot can also check the patient's temperature, clean the ward, and even help doctors keep abreast of the patient's condition through video transmission.

6、Medical teaching robot

Medical teaching robots are ideal teaching aids. U.S. health care workers are currently using a teaching robot called "Noel", which can simulate a pregnant woman about to give birth, and can even talk and scream. By simulating a real birth, it helps to improve obstetrics and gynecology medical staff surgical cooperation and clinical response.
