Bing Dwen Dwen is hard to buy! Beijing Winter Olympics mascots explode in popularity

The mascot "Bing Dwen Dwen" of the Beijing Winter Olympics is on fire, and it is hard to find a "pier" in major official licensed merchandise retail stores.

According to a report by RIA Novosti in Beijing on February 7, people have been lining up in front of the flagship store of official licensed merchandise in central Beijing since last week. Citizens of the capital and tourists scrambled to buy the Winter Olympics mascot "Bing Dwen Dwen", willing to spend hours in freezing cold for it.

According to the report, the Winter Olympics franchise stores have been opened in different parts of Beijing for a long time, and as the Winter Olympics approach, people's buying enthusiasm is increasing. Since the opening of the Winter Olympics on the 4th, these stores have become popular because of the launch of limited-edition new products.

Monday was the first working day after the long Lunar New Year holiday, but that didn't affect the length of the queue in the slightest—the line on the famous Wangfujing Pedestrian Street stretched for about half a kilometer. People brought folding chairs and thick clothes to last long enough in the cold wind.

Most of the people in line came in groups, and some were even family mobilizations - due to the huge demand and out-of-stock products, each person could only buy one "Bing Dwen Dwen".

A woman who was about to be in line told reporters: "I heard that the pandas have been sold out. I want to buy other products, but I hope they are not sold out." She said that she and her daughter came at 7:30 in the morning and arrived at 12:00 There were less than 10 people left in front of them at half time.

Next to the line, another lady was holding a precious toy in a red package, and people kept asking her what time she came to grab the panda. "I was in line for over 16 hours," she told reporters.
