Recently, CATL received the world's first ECE R100.03 power battery system certificate issued by the German Ministry of Transport.
Worldwide, international standards and regulations play a crucial role in improving the safety of power batteries. Regulation No. 100 issued by the Economic Commission for Europe is an internationally recognized general requirement for the electrical safety of electric vehicles, and the 03 series of amendments to this regulation entered into force in June 2021.
The new regulations put forward higher requirements for power battery systems, adding safety risk specifications such as electrical safety, mechanical safety, environmental safety and functional safety. From September 1, 2023, all power battery systems exported to the member states of the Economic Commission for Europe must pass this certification.
Taking the lead in obtaining the certificate represents the high recognition of CATL's quality-first safety concept and battery system capabilities by the Economic Commission for Europe. With advanced solutions in the field of electrical safety, CATL will lead the continuous improvement of power battery safety and compliance, helping the world to accelerate electrification.
