4, acceptable self-discharge rate, although compared with lithium batteries, NiMH battery self-discharge is still very large, but some high-performance NiMH battery self-discharge rate is even better than lithium batteries, some NiMH batteries can be stored at room temperature for up to 10 years or so can continue to use.

 

Some NiMH batteries can be stored at room temperature for up to 10 years and still be used. Nowadays, conventional NiMH batteries on the market have a certain low self-discharge performance. Conventional NiMH batteries can be stored at room temperature for 1 year and still be used normally.

 

 

Disadvantages of NiMH batteries

 

1. Excessive weight, the energy density of NiMH battery is always lower than that of Li-ion battery due to the influence of materials, and the weight of NiMH battery with the same energy ratio will be larger.

 

2. The charging management is complicated, and there is a big difference in the consistency of single cell, which seriously affects the battery life of the group.

 

3. Any memory effect, although very weak, but a long time of use, the occasional discharge and then continue to charge can restore some capacity

 

4. Low energy density caused by the volume of large and high weight is a very problematic issue. The use of pure electric vehicles nickel-metal hydride battery which seems unrealistic.
