Honeycomb Energy's second-generation L600 short blade lithium iron phosphate has been developed and is expected to reach mass production in Q3 2022, according to Yang Hongxin, Chairman and CEO of Honeycomb Energy. Honeycomb Energy's second generation of short blade lithium iron phosphate cell has the same specifications as the first generation, but the single capacity is increased to 196Ah, the energy density is more than 185Wh/kg, and the volume energy density is more than 430Wh/L, which belongs to the industry leading level.


Based on the cell, the driving range of 550km for Class A models can be achieved, and 1.6C fast charging can be realized under high energy density, which can meet the charge of more than 80% in 30min.


Just recently, the Department of Electronic Information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "Lithium ion Battery Industry Specification Conditions (2021)" (draft), according to the draft requirements, the new construction of power battery projects, energy type power battery project single energy density should be ≥180Wh/kg, battery pack energy density should be ≥120Wh/kg. The analysis shows that the energy density of lithium iron phosphate battery is about 160Wh/kg. If the specification conditions are implemented, it may have a certain impact on the expansion of lithium iron phosphate battery power project.


In this regard, Yang Hongxin, chairman and CEO of Honeycomb Energy, believes that the index of "energy type power battery project single energy density should be ≥180Wh/kg" can be achieved for the head enterprises that insist on technological innovation, but for the battery enterprises that are backward in technology, there will be some difficulty. The signal sent by the move is that the policy is guiding enterprises to build high-quality capacity and avoid low-level repetitive construction caused by low threshold.

At present, Honeycomb Energy is planning to build new lithium iron phosphate battery projects, energy density will reach more than 180Wh/kg.


The draft also suggested that enterprises should adopt production processes and equipment with advanced technology, energy saving, environmental protection, safety, stability and high intelligence, and put forward clear indicators for coating, liquid injection and testing.


"For the continuous innovation of power battery enterprises, whether product performance indicators or manufacturing control requirements, will go ahead of the national standard, or even as a standard-leading role." Yang hongxin said honeycomb energy in various performance and manufacturing requirements, have set higher standards than the policy requirements.


As the first enterprise to propose and implement AI intelligent power battery factory in the industry, Honeycomb Energy's power battery factory far exceeds national standards in the above indicators at the beginning of design.
