Global artificial intelligence (AI) software revenue is expected to reach $62.5 billion in 2022, up 21.3% from 2021, Gartner predicts.
The AI software market includes applications embedded in AI, such as computer vision software, as well as software used to build AI systems. Gartner's forecasts for the AI software market are benchmarked against use cases and predict how use cases will grow by measuring the amount of value of the potential business, time to realize business value, and risk.

Gartner predicts that the top five use cases for AI software spending in 2022 will be knowledge management, virtual assistants, self-driving cars, digital workplaces, and crowdsourced data.
It's worth noting, though, that companies continue to show strong interest in AI. In Gartner's 2022 CIO and Technology Executive Survey, 48% of ciOs said they have deployed or plan to deploy AI and machine learning technologies in the next 12 months.
But the actual deployment of AI is far less promising. According to Gartner research, while organizations generally try to use AI, they struggle to integrate the technology into their standard operating processes. Gartner predicts that half of all organizations worldwide will not reach the "plateau" or higher AI maturity level described by Gartner's AI Maturity Model until 2025.
