In 2023, 82% of the US wind power, photovoltaic and energy storage accounted for new power generation installation machines

According to data from the US Energy Information Administration, in 2023, the US wind power, solar energy and battery energy storage will account for 82%of the new public utility power generation installed capacity of new public utilities planned to be launched.

 

Since 2010, the amount of solar power generation in the United States has begun to increase. With the sharp decline in the cost of solar panels, the state and federal governments have introduced generous tax preferential measures to promote solar power generation. As of January 2023, the installation of solar power generation in the United States of public utilities was 73.5 Gava, accounting for about 6%of the total US power generation installed capacity. It is estimated that more than half of the newly added power generation installed capacity in the United States in 2023 will be solar energy. This will be the year when the United States has the most new solar installations in the United States, and it is also the first year when the newly added capacity of the United States exceeds half of the installation.

 

Before 2000, the US wind power capacity was insignificant. Similar to solar power generation, tax discounts, lower turbine construction costs, and new renewable energy targets have greatly promoted the growth of US wind power generation. As of January 2023, the US wind power installed capacity was 141.3 Gava, accounting for about 12%of the total capacity of the United States. The developer plans to add 7.1 Java's wind power capacity in 2023.

Most of the US wind power power capacity is located in the central region. The region has a broad open grassland, which can accommodate large wind power fields. The offshore wind farm near the US coastline provides huge potential for future wind power growth. However, wind and solar energy are intermittent source of power generation, and can only be generated during wind or sunlight. Because the battery can store the power of wind and solar energy for future use, more and more wind and solar projects have installed battery energy storage systems. In 2023, the developer plans to increase the battery energy storage capacity of 8.6 Gaval to the grid, which will double the total capacity of the US battery energy storage capacity.
