French renewable energy developer and independent power producer (IPP) Neoen recently signed a grid -up agreement to develop renewable energy projects in South Australia, which plans to deploy a large -scale battery energy storage system in the project.
NEOEN and power grid supplier Electranet signed a 30 -year transmission connection agreement (TCA) for the GOYDER SOUTH project planned to develop.
The project is an energy hub, which will deploy 1.2GW wind power field, 600MW solar power field and 900MW battery energy storage system. The deployment location is about two hours away from the city of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia.
The first half of the first stage of the GOYDER SOUTH project will build a 209MW wind power field, and the scale will be extended to 412MW in the second half.
To some extent, the power grid connection is the most valuable component of energy projects developed in Australia, which is the same in other countries and regions. For the battery energy storage system, access to the power grid means that the wholesale market that enters the power grid service and energy transactions, thereby obtain more income.
The first phase of the GOYDER SOUTH project is planned to invest $ 3 billion (US $ 2.01 billion). The project has been planned to be approved by relevant departments in 2021. The power of renewable energy in South Australia is transported to New South Wales.
The Energy Connect interconnection project was jointly developed by Electranet and Transgrid. Transgrid is responsible for operating and maintaining a high -voltage grid of the New South Wales and the Australian capital (ACT). Earlier this year this 900 -kilometer power line has begun to build.
At the same time, Neoen has delivered some large -scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects in Australia.
Among them, Honesdal battery energy storage system operated by South Australia, which is the first of the country's first 100MW/100MWH large -scale battery energy storage system, and its 300MW/450MWH Victorian Big Battery battery energy storage system. This is also this. A Australia's largest battery energy storage project so far.
The recent quarterly financial data released by NEOEN shows that the company's energy storage income has doubled, mainly driven by its Australian battery energy storage investment portfolio. The company is deploying 100MW/200MWH battery energy storage system near Canberra, Australia. Neoen has completed the financial settlement of the project in October this year.
