Nickel Australia Ltd (ASX:NIC) has signed a binding term sheet to install a 200 MW solar project with 20 MWh batteries to supply the company's operations in Indonesia electricity.
The agreement was signed with Indonesian solar developer PT Sumber Energi Surya Nusantara (SESNA), which will develop, install, operate and maintain the project at the Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Indonesia. The unit will supply power to Nickel's Hungaya Nickel, Ranger Nickel and Oracle Nickel processing plants.
Nickel will be the long-term off-taker for the project.
The term sheet is binding following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SESNA in January. The project will add to the 396 kWp plus 250 kWh battery storage project commissioned by SESNA at the Hengjaya mine.
Nickel plans to partner with Singapore's Quantum Power Asia Pte Ltd (Quantum Power Asia Pte Ltd) to build another 220 MW solar project at the Hengjaya mine.
