On July 28, the 20th ROBOCON competition for College students opened in Zoucheng, Shandong province, the hometown of Mencius.
ROBOCON is a domestic selection competition of ABU ROBOCON. ROBOCON is an international university student robot creative and building competition launched by the Asian Broadcasting Federation (ABU) in 2002. ABU ROBOCON launches a new theme every year, and the host country makes the content and rules of the competition according to the historical and cultural characteristics of its own country. ROBOCON, the National Robot Competition for College students, adopts this rule for competition. Participants need to use mechanical, electronic, control and other technical knowledge and means, after about 10 months of production and preparation, using robots to complete the task set by the rules.
In 2020, ROBOCON entered the ranking of the evaluation system of discipline competitions in National colleges and universities from 2015 to 2019 released by China Association of Higher Education.
ROBOCON was one of the earliest explorers of new engineering ideas. The task of the competition is difficult and the technology is comprehensive. The teams need to complete the design, manufacture, debugging, iteration and training of the robot within 10 months, until it leads to the stadium, which is a complete robot development process. Here, students are required to form interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary project teams. In addition to robot technology development, the team also needs to complete non-technical tasks such as schedule control, material management, finance, publicity and so on. It plays a positive role in fostering students' comprehensive qualities such as complex engineering cognition, systematic thinking, team cooperation and project management.
As a domestic technology challenging the strongest, most influential platform for the robot contest, since 2002, the national undergraduate robot competition has successfully held the 19th, in "boiling up the mind and wisdom for action" slogan, under the stimulus of hundreds of domestic have been colleges and universities to participate, about 30000 college students to join in the high level of robot competitions, Chinese teams (including Hong Kong SPECIAL Administrative Region) have won the championship 6 times, the second place 7 times and the third place 3 times in ABU annual finals. By integrating the resources of universities, media, enterprises and the government, the event has become the most influential event in China's science and engineering colleges, making positive contributions to robotics education and training a large number of outstanding entrepreneurs and engineers for China's robotics industry and related science and technology fields.
At present, the national undergraduate robot contest sponsored by the communist youth league central, the Ministry of Education of colleges and universities teaching steering committee, the Ministry of Education of higher mechanical engineering school computer specialized teaching steering committee, shandong broadcast television, the national school communist youth league application technology research center, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the university (college) alliance, Supported by China Youth Development Foundation and China Guanghua Science and Technology Foundation. The participating students have greatly improved their awareness of innovation, engineering practice ability and teamwork level, and cultivated a group of scientific and technological elites who love innovation, can do things, can cooperate and are willing to work hard.
