Tesla-style lawnmower, also battery-powered

Industrial designer Prokop Strnka believes Tesla will eventually invest in more household products beyond solar panels and battery packs. So he designed TeslaG. This autonomous lawnmower uses Tesla's self-driving algorithms and technology to actively scan its environment to ensure a clean cut. The sensors automatically differentiate between grass, plants and weeds while actively avoiding obstacles or heading towards the sidewalk.

         Specifically, the lawnmower relies on a version of Tesla's Autopilot algorithm to actively scan and sense its environment while driving through tall grass. Sensors on the mower can help detect differences between grass and plants and can actively map the lawn so the mower doesn't end up over cobblestones into the road or onto a neighbor's lawn. The mower runs on solar power, but when the mower runs low on power and the sun is relatively low, it connects to its wireless charging hub to drain its battery quickly.

       Conceptually, the self-driving lawnmower is a great way to help Tesla perfect the self-driving AI of its cars through machine learning. The working conditions of a lawnmower are almost the same as those of a car, except that grass is used instead of asphalt. It won't detect traffic lights, but will practice staying in the driveway (or lawn) and actively scan for obstacles like feet, furniture, or pets' tails.
