The battery energy storage system deployed in the United States in 2022 reached 4.027GW/12.155GWH

The large -scale battery energy storage system deployed by the United States in 2022 has reached a record high, but the installed capacity of solar power facilities and wind power facilities deployed in this year is lower than expected.

 

According to statistics from the latest and fourth quarter released by the latest version of the Clean Energy Association (ACP) "Clean Energy Quarter", the United States deployed 4027MW/12155MWH battery energy storage system last year.

 

This surpasses the annual deployment record of 3GW/9.5GWH set by the United States in 2021. This means that the installed capacity of the battery energy storage system deployed in the United States increased by 80%to 9054MW; the total energy storage capacity increased by 93%to 25185MWh.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the United States opened 850MW/2375MWH battery energy storage system, an increase of 31%year -on -year. However, as the installed capacity of solar power generation facilities decreased by 5%at the same time, the installed capacity of wind power facilities decreased by 37%, and the total installed capacity of the three key technologies tracked by the American Clean Energy Association (ACP) decreased by 21%. A similar trend appeared throughout the year in 2022, which coincides with the third quarter report released by the association in the third quarter of 2022.

 

California is still the leading region that deploy battery energy storage systems in the United States. By the end of 2022, the state's cumulative installation capacity of the battery energy storage system was 4938MW. In fact, the installed capacity of the battery storage system deployed in California in 2022 exceeds solar power generation facilities.

 

In terms of planning and deployment, the US Clean Energy Association (ACP) said that the battery energy storage industry rebounded in the fourth quarter of 2022 from the weak growth rate of the previous two quarters, an increase of 17%compared with the third quarter. According to reports, the scale of battery storage systems planned and deployed in the United States reached 16711MW/45638MWH, which once again refreshed a new high of energy storage deployment.

 

California's planning and deployment energy storage system has a installed capacity of 5846MW, which is far ahead in the US energy storage market. The second largest market in the United States is 3802MW, Arizona is 1911MW, and Nevada is 1693MW. There are also 14 states in the United States that are developing a battery energy storage system of more than 100MW.

 

The United States Clean Energy Association (ACP) pointed out that nearly 70%of the development project development projects of battery energy storage systems are deployed with solar power facilities and wind power facilities. Whether the investment tax credit (ITC) introduced by an independent energy storage system will still be observed to promote the increase in installed capacity.

 

At the same time, among the energy storage projects operating in 2022, more than half of the 88 battery energy storage projects (48) are deployed by the site, and the rest are independent deployed battery energy storage projects.

 

In the US Power grid and wholesale market, the battery storage system deployed by ERCOT Company in Texas is leading in its interconnection queue, and the installed capacity of the planned merger is 67GW; System operator (Caiso) ranks third in 48GW.
