Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, the world's leading consulting firm, recently announced a warning to the industry that the global lithium battery industry bubble for cars is taking shape, and the cost will be very heavy after the bubble bursts.
Now, many car lithium battery manufacturers are setting up new factories in the United States, Asia and Europe, and many of them have received government subsidies.
Roland Berger predicts that by 2015, global automotive lithium battery capacity will be at least twice as large as actual demand.
According to Roland Berger, the overcapacity of Li-ion batteries will make the Li-ion battery industry play a battle for market share, and many Li-ion battery manufacturers lacking capacity will be screened out. Roland Berger estimates that only six to eight manufacturers will survive in the next five to seven years.
Roland Berger describes the lithium battery industry as a "blind investment risk".
