The world's largest lithium battery-all-vanadium flow combined battery energy storage project was officially put into operation in Oxford, UK

Recently, a total 55MW lithium-ion battery + all-vanadium flow battery combined energy storage project was officially put into operation in Oxford, UK, and the project was named Energy Superhub Oxford.

On July 5, the project's electric vehicle charging park was officially opened, marking the final step of the project's delivery.

The core part of the project is a combined battery energy storage system consisting of a 50MW/50MWh lithium-ion battery system provided by Wärtsilä and a 2MW/5MWh all-vanadium redox flow battery provided by Invinity Energy Systems. Habitat Energy is using an artificial intelligence trading platform. project to market.

The project will provide invaluable experience for developers Pivot Power and technology suppliers to explore the way this combined energy storage system can participate in the market, and to try to extend the life cycle of lithium-ion batteries using all-vanadium flow batteries.

Innovate UK, the UK government agency, provided a quarter of the £41m investment fee.

Pivot Power hopes to expand this model to 40 other locations in the UK, with a single project of 50MW, which means a total planned size of about 2GW. More recently, it set start dates for 4 other projects totalling 200MW/400MWh.

The greenfield project will continue to use Wärtsilä's lithium-ion batteries, and the all-vanadium flow battery will be decided after further consideration.
