UPS battery maintenance method what

1. Keep the appropriate ambient temperature

Generally, the ambient temperature affects the battery life of the UPS. The best ambient temperature required by the general battery and manufacturer is between 20-25℃. Although the batteries used in the UPS power supply are generally maintenance-free sealed lead-acid batteries, the design life is generally 5 years, which can be achieved in the environment required by the battery and the manufacturer. Failure to meet the specified environmental requirements, the length of their life will be very different. In addition, as the ambient temperature increases, the UPS battery life will be accelerated and shortened.

Two, regular charging and discharging

The float charging voltage and discharge voltage in the UPS power supply have been adjusted to the rated value when leaving the factory, and the discharge current is increased with the increase of the load, the load should be adjusted reasonably in use, such as the number of control computer and other electronic equipment. Generally, the load does not exceed 60% of the rated load of the UPS. If the load range is within this range, the discharge current of the UPS battery does not overdischarge.

Because UPS is connected to the mains for a long time, the battery will be in the floating charging state for a long time when the power supply quality is high and the mains power outage rarely occurs. As a result, the activity of the mutual conversion of chemical energy and electric energy of the battery will be reduced, accelerating aging and shortening the service life. Therefore, the battery should be completely discharged every 2-3 months. The discharge time can be determined according to the capacity and load of the battery. After a full load discharge is completed, charge again for more than 8 hours according to the regulations.

Three, timely replacement of waste/bad batteries

At present, large and medium-sized UPS power supplies are equipped with batteries ranging from 3 to 96, or even more. These individual batteries are electrically connected to form a battery pack to satisfy the UPS's NEED for DC power. In the continuous operation and use of UPS, due to the difference in performance and quality, the performance of individual batteries will decline, the storage capacity can not meet the requirements and damage is inevitable. If one or more batteries in the battery pack are damaged, check and detect each battery to remove the damaged battery. When replacing batteries, try to buy batteries of the same model from the same manufacturer. Do not use acid-proof batteries, sealed batteries, or UPS batteries of different specifications together.

Fourth, use the peak power supply to charge the battery

Use of power supply peak charging related to the UPS battery in the long-term mains low voltage power supply or frequent power outage users, in order to alert the UPS battery due to long-term charging insufficient and premature damage, should ensure that the battery has enough charging time after each discharge. After the general battery is deep discharge, then charge to 90% of the rated capacity at least 10 ~ 12h.

Five, UPS power supply should not work full load

When using UPS batteries, pay attention to the PARAMETERS of the UPS. All UPS power supplies should not be fully loaded. Keep more than 20% power allowance, and control the load between 40% and 60% of the rated output power of the UPS.
