Power lithium ion battery and energy storage battery are two major scenarios of battery technology at present. Energy storage battery corresponds to solar energy equipment, and power lithium ion battery corresponds to new energy vehicles. Battery technology companies, led by Japanese and Korean companies, have long classified the packaging types of power lithium ion batteries into three forms.
The three types of batteries have distinct shapes because of the way they are manufactured and packaged. However, there is no influence on the working principle of the battery itself. What matters most is the different working standard, equipment use and more diversity. For example, the cake is made into different shapes, but the principle of baking and fermentation of raw materials is the same.
Cylindrical batteries have been in development for a long time, so their manufacturing process is more mature, the cost is lower, and there are fixed international standards to evaluate the quality of products. But cylindrical batteries have room to improve both in terms of battery layout and energy density.
Although square battery and flexible battery are difficult to compare with cylindrical battery in standardization, they can be customized so that they can better coordinate with vehicles and meet the special needs of different manufacturers and models. Cylindrical, square and flexible batteries have their own value in the relevant market, but cylindrical terpolymer lithium-ion batteries have become the mainstream, which is a trade-off between performance and cost.
