I have been engaged in industrial robot system integration work for many years and talked about many robot system integration projects, but I rarely see industrial robots in the central and western regions. I thought it was because of the backward economy in the central and western regions, but it was not until I read the installation requirements of FanUC industrial robots in Japan that I suddenly realized. Japan's industrial robots were restricted to use below 1,000 meters above sea level, while most of China's central and western regions are above 1,000 meters.
The following are the installation conditions of FANUC Industrial robots in Japan:
1. Ambient temperature: 0~45°C
2. Environmental humidity: usually below 75%RH (no condensation phenomenon) in the short term (within a month) below 95%RH
3. Allowed altitude: lower than 1000m
4. Vibration acceleration: 4.9m/s (0.5g) below
5. There should be no corrosive gas (in high temperature, low temperature environment, vibration, dust, cutting oil and other high concentration environment, need to confirm with the robot company.)
Japan's industrial robots are allowed only below 1,000 meters above sea level, but more than half of China's areas are above 1,000 meters above sea level and concentrated in the central and western regions. Therefore, it is not unusual to see robots in the central and western regions.
As the altitude increases, the air becomes thinner, and the temperature and air pressure drop, the insulation and temperature of electrical equipment are affected. Therefore, electrical equipment in high altitude areas must be specially designed and treated.

As can be seen from the figure above, about 70% of China's land area is above 1000 meters above sea level, so industrial robots cannot be used in these areas. Is this shocking? In the future, geographical location must be taken into consideration when selecting robots.
In fact, not only industrial robots in Japan have altitude restrictions, most electrical equipment has altitude requirements, the specific reasons will not be detailed.
