Science Fiction Network, December 23 (Zhu Xiwei), according to foreign media reports, 2021 Dubai Global Graduation Design Exhibition, a graduate from the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, exhibited a small autonomous robot, named "A" seedboat.
It is reported that this small autonomous robot can walk in the desert, looking for fertile land. After finding a piece of fertile land, it reports back to its user, thus turning a wasteland into an ideal planting area.
The graduate said that with Dubai being in the desert, he would like to see more greenery. And Dubai's continued desertification prompted him to develop an autonomous seeding robot that can work without the help of human beings.
The seeding robot is equipped with solar panels that can be charged during the day and navigate the ground at night. In addition, the robot is about 20 cm long and can move within a range of 10 km. Its legs are 3D printed and can walk in sandy areas to find suitable moist soil and create a favorable environment for sowing seeds.
At the same time, this robot is equipped with a long-range sensor that transmits data to the user. It is also equipped with a receiver that allows the user to use the feedback data to decide on subsequent operations. In addition, this robot has a built-in collision avoidance feature that allows it to detect soil more easily.
A Canadian startup, Flash Forests, has also developed a small drone that can sow seeds up to 10 times faster than by hand. The company plans to plant one billion trees in one area by 2028.
Finally, the staff of the Global Graduation Design Show in Dubai said that these robots will continue to be exhibited in future shows. He believes that these robots will have a more profound impact on the environment. In the future, farmers, citizens, the agricultural industry and the government will benefit from the seeding robots.
