The founder of Boya Gongdao planned to build an "underwater DJI". He walked out of the Peking University laboratory and decided to lead the team to transform the underwater robot research that he had been engaged in for many years.


"With the advancement of research and development, we found that in addition to consumer-oriented photography and camera application scenarios, underwater robots can also play a greater role in underwater fire rescue, underwater engineering and other scenarios, which is equivalent to It is necessary to build a vehicle that carries various tools to move underwater." Fu Yuhan said. In the past, projects such as underwater search and rescue or underwater engineering inspections mostly relied on people, and rarely used underwater engineering platforms such as unmanned submersibles. Organic ideas also need to be imported from abroad. Boya Engineering faces the monopoly of related technologies. As a challenge, we began to develop domestic replacements for various underwater engineering platforms.


In a private house, surrounded by gray cement walls, a few light bulbs were simply connected. This was the initial R&D environment for Boya Gongdao's technical team. The technical team was very motivated. They moved all the instruments and experimental equipment to be used in this room, and placed a large pool. More than a dozen people began to devote themselves to the experiment. Fu Yuhan said: "The technical team has to solve many problems, from the most basic to ensure the uninterrupted power supply of the underwater robot, to the more complex fluid design and material use. There is no mature experience to learn from, so we can create it ourselves."


Up to now, Boya Engineering Road has successively conquered a number of key technologies such as underwater bionics, motion control, underwater communication, and underwater collaboration, and has also independently developed core components such as underwater laser scanning rulers and thrusters.


Combining the wind and the rain, to open up the mountains and forests, and break through the wilderness of technological transformation, Boya Works Road landed in Beijing Economic Development Zone in 2019. It was also in this year that Boya Works Road ushered in a critical transition period and entered a stage of rapid development and expansion. "In the first one or two years, we paid more attention to technology research and development. The technical geeks in the research and development team almost put the most cutting-edge technology on the product, but the functions were not outstanding." Fu Yuhan said. In a million-dollar project bidding, more than a dozen domestic manufacturers engaged in underwater robots gathered together, and the customer organized a "competition" to simulate the scene task of finding people who fell into the water, and selected accurate positioning and rapid search. manufacturer. Manufacturers throw their products into the water, and those that sink directly to the bottom, those that fail to operate, and those that cannot walk in a straight line... "Seeing problems with other products, we also sweated coldly behind our backs. Fortunately, in this competition, our water The robot performed normally and finally won the bid, but this also sounded the alarm for us to pay attention to quality stability and focus on the core needs of users." Fu Yuhan said.


With more and more dealings with users, Boya Gongdao constantly iterates the functional development of underwater robots. Fu Yuhan said: "Cut off unnecessary redundant functions, make technical subtractions for each robot, and start to walk on two legs with technology and the market, fully expand market application scenarios, and enter consumption, scientific research, and inspection. , surveying and other fields. 2019 is the first year we achieved profitability, and we have also become the first profitable independent research and development enterprise of underwater robots in the industry.”


In fact, Boya Gongdao and Economic Development Zone became associated in 2018. That year, Boya Gongdao appeared at the World Robot Conference held in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. In the first year of participating in the conference, it won the "Most Innovative Product Award" of the conference with its self-developed bionic shark Robo-shark 2.0, which was won by many media and investors. and users notice. At the 2021 World Robot Conference, Boya Gongdao's intelligent bionic shark attracted much attention. Today, Boya Engineering Road has more than 300 independent patents, and has developed more than 20 products such as underwater robots, underwater unmanned boats, and marine equipment, which are used in underwater energy, fire rescue, marine surveying and mapping and other scenarios, which can protect the environment. , marine engineering, energy exploration and other fields to provide industry solutions, and reached cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, the Department of Emergency Management, and the China Electric Power Group.
