Edina, an established combined heat and power (CHP) specialist, has introduced a battery energy storage system (BESS) solution for its growing product portfolio that reduces system energy consumption by 30% compared to air-cooled systems.
Edina works with the world's leading manufacturers of battery and inverter technology to design 1-2 hour battery energy storage solutions. Compared with traditional air-cooled HVAC systems, liquid thermal management technology is integrated into the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery rack, which significantly improves battery performance, energy availability, battery health and longevity, and reduces the LCOS of energy storage. This scalable and modular battery energy storage solution will be designed, installed and maintained at Edina's facilities in the UK and Ireland and delivered to commercial, industrial, renewable energy development and utilities as part of an EPC system integration solution department user.
Battery storage technology can unlock new economic opportunities, improve site resiliency, and provide grid balancing services. Battery energy storage technology joins Edina's portfolio along with hydrogen-fueled MWM gas engines and mission-critical backup HVO-fueled diesel power generation and can complement these technologies as part of a hybrid solution.
