ENEL North America plans to build a solar cell and component manufacturer in the United States, with a initial production capacity of at least 3GW.
According to ENEL, it is planned to use the factory to produce a double -sided heterogeneous knot (HJT) photovoltaic battery. The component will use the series structure and use two stacked batteries to capture more light than the single battery structure. ENEL said the component efficiency of production will exceed 30%.
The factory will be constructed by ENEL North America's subsidiary 3Sun USA with a minimum production capacity of 3GW. The company said that the annual output can be expanded to 6GW. ENEL is currently evaluating the potential position of the factory. Factory construction is planned to be launched in 2023, and the first component will be launched at the end of 2024.
This will be ENEL's second photovoltaic manufacturing plant. Last year, the subsidiary 3SUN announced that the scale of its Italian factory expanded from 200MW to 3GW in the second half of 2023.
