German federal state allocates 10 million euros to support balcony photovoltaics

The German Federal Government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has allocated 10 million euros to support the deployment of solar modules up to 600W on balconies, terraces and facades.


Under the scheme, each family is entitled to a rebate of up to 500 euros.


The government said in a statement that it supports the installation of small systems with power up to 600W and does not require approval, just registration with the energy provider. This can provide quick savings when electricity prices go up.


According to estimates by the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Association (VZ NRW), in the state, a balcony solar module, with an initial investment of 350-500 euros, can provide current value electricity of 54 euros per year, about six to nine The cost can be recovered annually, provided that the electricity is used entirely by the user.
