India will bid for 250GW's renewable energy capacity before 2028

The Indian government will install a renewable energy capacity of 250GW before March 2028. The announcement is part of the wider planning to improve non -fossil fuel energy capacity, including solar energy and wind energy and nuclear energy and hydropower. The country plans to increase its power generation to 500GW by 2030 to help reduce its carbon emissions by 45%from 2005.

However, according to the year -end review of the Ministry of New Energy and Renewable Energy, India failed to achieve the goal of installing 175GW renewable energy capacity by 2022, and 172.72GW was installed before October 2022. As of February 28, non -fossil capacity has exceeded 175GW.

As of March 2024, the Indian government will bid a 15GW renewable energy capacity each quarterly bidding for the first two quarters of this fiscal year. According to a memorandum, the next two quarters will be installed with a capacity of 10GW. In the annual planned 50GW renewable energy bidding, 10GW will be allocated to the installation of the wind turbine. Solar energy currently accounts for more than half of India's renewable energy capacity, and wind energy accounts for nearly one -third.
