Abu Dhabi's clean energy company MASDAR and Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade signed a joint development agreement to develop solar and wind energy projects with more than 2 Gaval in Central Asian countries. MASDAR said the company will also develop 500 MW -time battery energy storage in multiple locations across the country.
The transaction is part of Uzbekistan's efforts to promote 25%of energy from renewable energy, including the solar energy of 7 Gava and 5 Gaval wind energy at the end of the decade.
Masdar has been active in Uzbekistan since 2019. Its clean energy capacity has almost doubled within two years to reach 20 Gival. Its 100 MW Nurnavoi solar project is the country's first independent solar project. The factory has been operating since 2021.
The company's growing investment portfolio also includes Zarafshan Power Plant with a installed capacity of 500 MW, the largest wind farm in Central Asia, and three solar projects located in Gazak, Samalham and Shelabad. The capacity is about 900 MW.
MASDAR said that once it is fully put into operation, the projects in these plans will generate sufficient power to supply more than 1 million households, and discharge about 1 million tons of carbon dioxide each year.
MASDAR is active in more than 40 countries and has invested or promised to invest more than $ 30 billion in projects. The company is co -owned by Adnoc, MUBADALAINVESTMENTCOMPANY and Abu Dhabi National Energy Corporation. Its goal is to achieve the annual capacity of at least 100 Gava's renewable energy production capacity and a green hydrogen production capacity of up to 1 million tons by January 10, 2020.
