Facebook parent company Meta plans to launch the first generation of AR (augmented reality) glasses by 2024.
In 2026, Meta will launch a second-generation product that will be lighter in weight and more advanced in design. In 2028, Meta will also launch a more complete third-generation product.
Meta's AR glasses project, dubbed "Project Nazare," will work independently of a phone, meaning it doesn't need the computing power of a phone, according to people familiar with the matter.
It is expected that the sales of Meta's first-generation AR glasses will not be very high, and it is expected to only be around tens of thousands.
