Dalian flow battery energy storage peak shaving power station is the first national large-scale chemical energy storage demonstration project approved by the National Energy Administration in April 2016, with a total construction scale of 200 megawatts (MW)/800 megawatt hours (MWh) . At present, the main body of the first phase of the Dalian flow battery energy storage peak shaving power station has been completed and is in the commissioning stage of the whole station. It is expected that the first phase of the project will be connected to the grid and put into operation by the end of June this year.


The commissioning of the power station will improve the peak shaving capacity of Liaoning power grid, especially Dalian power grid, improve the ability to accept renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaics, and improve the reliability of power supply for important loads in southern Dalian, improve the power structure of the power grid, and ensure the safety and economy of the power grid. run.


When the electricity consumption is low, it digests, accepts, and stores the new energy power generation into the "body"; when the electricity consumption peaks, it releases the electricity into the power grid to satisfy everyone's use. On the north side of the intersection of Xiangzhou Road and Chunguang Street in Shahekou District, the first phase of Dalian Flow Battery Energy Storage Peak-Shaving Power Station will soon be "full" charged, and one energy storage cycle can store 400 MWh of electricity, or 400,000 kWh Electricity, which is equivalent to the daily electricity consumption of 200,000 residents.

In 2016, Rongke Energy Storage was approved by the Energy Bureau as the world's largest flow battery peak shaving power station of 200 megawatts (MW)/800 megawatt hours (MWh). At present, the construction of the first phase of the project has been completed and the commissioning stage has begun. In terms of lead-carbon battery technology, it has broken through the batch preparation technology of low hydrogen evolution carbon materials; it has broken through low-cost, long-cycle 12 volts (V) 38 amp hours (Ah), 12 volts (V) 150 amp hours (Ah) power storage Using lean liquid lead-carbon battery, 12V (V) 70Ah (Ah) flooded lead-carbon battery technology and batch trial production technology; independently developed a 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) long-life lead-carbon battery energy storage application demonstration system, and It was successfully put into operation in Dalian. At the same time, the research department leads the formulation of flow battery standards at home and abroad. The first international standard for flow batteries formulated in charge will be released in 2020, and nearly 20 domestic industry standards have been formulated, leading the development of global flow battery technology.



Regarding the working principle of the Dalian flow battery energy storage peak-shaving power station, Gong Jiyu explained that the positive and negative electrolytes of the battery are circulated into the stack under the action of the circulating pump, and electrochemical reactions occur on the electrodes to realize electrical energy and chemical The energy can be converted into each other to realize the charging and discharging process of electric energy. When charging, the high-voltage alternating current in the power grid is converted into low-voltage direct current through the transformer and the DC/AC converter, and enters the stack. Under the action of the electric potential, the battery is charged; The transformer converts 220 kilovolts (kV) of alternating current into the grid.



Today, green and low carbon has become the main theme of energy development. In recent years, the development of new energy industry has been an important part of Dalian's energy supply-side structural reform. New energy power generation has far exceeded the traditional thermal power generation, occupying an important position in Dalian's power structure. In 2021, Dalian's new energy power generation will be 42.45 billion kWh, accounting for 64.9% of the city's planned industrial power generation, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%. In the future, the proportion of new energy power generation in the city's power structure is expected to continue to rise.


"Wind power and photovoltaic power generation are fluctuating and intermittent. Wind power usually generates a large amount of power late at night, but in the middle of the night, electricity consumption is at a trough. Photovoltaic is the most abundant in the afternoon and generates the largest power generation. At this time, it is not the peak of electricity consumption, resulting in a contradiction between supply and demand. Gong Jiyu said that as a new type of high-efficiency electric energy storage device, the all-vanadium redox flow battery can be used in wind, solar and other renewable energy power generation and grid peak regulation due to its independent battery output power and energy storage capacity, intrinsic safety and other characteristics. In the process, it is used as a large-scale energy storage device. The all-vanadium redox flow battery has a fast start-up speed, and the battery can be started within 2 minutes when the stack is full of electrolyte, and it only takes 0.1 seconds to switch between the charge and discharge states during operation.


After being put into operation, the Dalian flow battery energy storage peak-shaving power station will be charged when wind power and photovoltaic power generation is long or when the power consumption is low, and discharged when the wind power photovoltaic output is small or when the power consumption is peak. It can not only smooth the unstable photovoltaic power generation and wind power, increase the proportion of renewable energy, but also cooperate with conventional thermal power, nuclear power and other power sources to provide auxiliary services such as peak regulation and frequency regulation for the operation of the power system, and improve the flexibility of the power system.
