Northvolt has built a battery storage manufacturing factory in Poland with a designed annual production capacity of 12GWh

Northvolt, a European lithium-ion battery manufacturer, recently stated that the company has completed the construction of its energy storage system production plant in Poland and is expected to start production by the end of 2023. And it claims to be the largest battery energy storage system production factory in Europe.

The company's goal is to start production at the factory before the end of this year. When the plan to build the factory was first announced at the end of 2021, Northvolt Corporation stated that the initial annual production capacity of the factory would reach 5GWh, and the final annual production capacity would reach 12GWh.

The Ultimate Factories operated by Northvolt in Sweden aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 150GWh in 2030 and increase production from 2022. Northvolt's plan to build a Ultimate Factories in Germany may be postponed because Peter Carlsson, the CEO of Northvolt, said last year that high energy prices had affected the profitability of the project.

Most of Northvolt's future battery products will flow to the electric vehicle (EV) sector, while Freyr, a Norwegian based electricity manufacturer, has mainly reached agreements with companies in the battery energy storage field. In April 2021, Northvolt partnered with Fluence, the world's largest system integrator, to jointly develop battery energy storage solutions.

Northvolt opened a Battery recycling facility in Norway last year.
