According to statistics, renewable power generation in the United States mainly comes from hydropower, solar photovoltaic and wind power, which is the fastest growing source of power generation in the United States. 24% of U.S. utility-scale electricity generation in the first half of 2022 came from renewables, compared to 21% in the same period last year
In 2021, the U.S. will set a new record for new utility-scale PV capacity. From June 2021 to June 2022, utility-scale PV installed 17.6 GW, bringing U.S. utility-scale PV to 65.8 GW. The U.S. had 137.6 GW of wind capacity in June 2022, 10% of which was added between June 2021 and July 2022. An additional 7.0 GW of wind and 13.0 GW of photovoltaics are expected to be connected to the grid by the end of this year.
