Suzuki to set up R&D company in India to sell electric cars jointly developed with Toyota by 2025

Recently, Suzuki said that the company will establish a global R&D company in India to further enter the Indian market and strengthen its competitiveness and R&D capabilities in India and other markets around the world.

Suzuki will start producing electric vehicles at its Gujarat plant in 2025. The company will also build a separate battery factory in the state to produce batteries for its electric vehicles starting in 2026.

Suzuki will spend more than 104 billion rupees in electrification plans in India, which will be one of Suzuki's largest battery and electric vehicle investments in the world. The company has already invested 650 billion rupees in India.

Suzuki Motor plans to launch an electric vehicle in India by 2025 that is being developed in partnership with Toyota Motor. Suzuki will use a dedicated platform for compact electric vehicles developed with Toyota to bring new products to market, which could include models including SUVs. The move will expand the partnership between the two Japanese automakers in India from hybrids to electric vehicles.

India pushes automakers to produce more electric vehicles by offering companies billions of dollars in incentives

It is predicted that by 2030, the size of India's electric vehicle market (including two-wheelers) will grow to more than 150 billion US dollars.
