The advantages and disadvantages of various AGV navigation methods, teach you how to choose the navigation mode

At present, the most common AGV navigation technologies on the market are: magnetic stripe navigation, QR code navigation, visual navigation, and laser navigation. So in this issue, we will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of various types of navigation, so that everyone can choose a more suitable AGV robot according to their own situation.


1. Magnetic stripe navigation


The advantage of magnetic strip navigation is that the use of magnetic rails can make the positioning of AGVs more accurate, and the cost of magnetic strips is relatively low. The disadvantage is also that it can only walk according to the magnetic strip, and the task cannot be changed at any time. The track needs to be relaid when it needs to be changed, and the magnetic strip is easily damaged and requires regular maintenance.


2. QR code navigation


The positioning of the QR code navigation is accurate, small and flexible, and it is easier to lay and change the path, which is convenient for controlling communication and does not interfere with sound and light. The disadvantage is also that the path requires regular maintenance, and if the site is complex, the QR code needs to be replaced frequently.


3. Visual Navigation


The advantage of visual navigation is that the hardware cost is lower and the positioning is more accurate. The disadvantage is that its technology is not mature enough, and it has higher requirements on the surrounding environment such as ground and light. When the operating site area is large, the time for drawing a navigation map will also be extended.


4. Laser navigation


Laser navigation can flexibly plan paths, locate accurately, drive paths are flexible and changeable, construction is more convenient, and can adapt to various use environments. It is indeed more expensive to make.


As the technology of laser navigation becomes more and more mature, laser navigation has gradually become the mainstream navigation method of AGV\AMR handling robots.
