Volvo Penta has launched battery energy storage solutions for the European and American markets

Volvo Penta, the main power solutions subsidiary of Volvo Group, has started to enter the battery energy storage market in Europe and the United States. It has launched battery energy storage solutions in the United States and Europe.

Volvo Penta said the launch of the battery storage solution is a strategic move to complement its power generation business and expand into new areas.

Complete solutions include power conversion systems, SCADA platforms (monitoring and data acquisition), energy management systems (EMS), and container designs.

The company did not use the term "secondary battery" in its announcement, but said the subsystem would use the same batteries used in Volvo applications.

Prior to the launch of battery energy storage products, Volvo Group subsidiaries established various partnerships in the field of secondary battery energy storage. In 2020, Volvo Buses partnered with Swedish secondary Battery startup Battery Loop, while last year Volvo Energy invested in Connected Energy, a secondary battery maker in the UK and continental Europe.
