By the end of December 2022, India's cumulative rooftop PV installed capacity was close to 8.8 GW. Among them, Gujarat takes the lead in deployment scale, accounting for 24% of the installed capacity of rooftop solar energy.
The latest market report released by Mercom India, an Indian research agency, said that the installed capacity of rooftop solar energy in India will be 1.6 GW in 2022, down nearly 6% year on year.
The report pointed out that about 42% of the installed capacity of the whole year came from the industrial sector. The residential, commercial and government sectors accounted for 32%, 25% and 1% of the total new capacity respectively.
Mercom India revealed that as of December 31, 2022, India's cumulative rooftop solar installed capacity was close to 8.8 GW. Among them, Gujarat ranks first in terms of installed capacity, accounting for 24% of the total installed capacity of rooftop solar energy in the country. The second is Maharashtra and Rajasthan, accounting for 14% and 9% respectively.
The government of India has imposed a basic tariff (BCD) on rooftop solar projects and implemented the model and manufacturer approval list (ALMM), which has increased the volatility of the price and supply of solar modules in the country.
The research company said that from October to December 2022, 483 MW of roof solar energy will be added in India, of which about 56% will come from the residential sector, while the industrial and commercial sector will account for 43%.
