Lithium battery protection board can play the role of charge and discharge protection for series and parallel connected battery pack, and at the same time can detect the over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, under-voltage and short-circuit status of each single battery in the battery pack, prolong the service life of the battery and avoid the damage of the battery due to over-discharge. Lithium battery protection board is an indispensable component of lithium battery.
Lithium battery protection board also has the role of equalization protection, there are two types of energy-consuming and energy transfer type. Energy-consuming equalization refers to a battery with high power or voltage in a series of batteries, using a resistor to lose the excess power. Energy-consuming equalization is also divided into charging equalization, voltage fixed-point equalization, and static automatic equalization.
Equalization during charging: When the voltage of any one battery is higher than the average voltage of all batteries during charging, the protection board will start equalization protection.
Voltage point equalization: The Li-ion battery protection board starts equalization at one voltage point, only at the end of battery charging, and the equalization time is short.
Static automatic equalization: performed during charging or discharging, even if the battery is in static shelving state, when the voltage is inconsistent, the Li-ion battery protection board will start equalization protection until the voltage remains consistent.
Transfer energy type is to let the large-capacity battery transfer to the small-capacity battery in the way of energy storage to detect the capacity of the battery to do equalization, which is divided into capacity time equalization and capacity fixed-point equalization.
Battery Management System (BMS), referred to as BMS, has the function of measuring battery voltage, and also contains battery protection function, battery equalization function, battery reserve function, energy measurement function, network communication function, etc. The battery management system can prevent the battery from over-discharge, over-charge, over-temperature and other abnormal conditions.
Since lithium batteries may damage the battery performance and even create the risk of explosion in the state of severe overcharge and over-discharge, the battery management system exists to monitor, protect and manage the lithium batteries in a balanced manner so as to improve the efficiency of the lithium batteries.
Li-ion battery protection board and battery management system both play a protective role for Li-ion battery. The difference between them is that
1. Li-ion battery protection board is composed of IC, MOS tube and resistor, capacitor components, which is an important component of Li-ion battery. The battery management system can be edited and comes with battery management software, which is relatively more intelligent and equivalent to the brain of the lithium battery, playing a control role.
2. Lithium battery protection board has an important role in the field of 3C lithium batteries and power batteries, and the battery management system is used in the field of power batteries.
3. The battery management system is better than the battery protection plate, but the performance is not stable at a low temperatures.
