Spanish solar developer X-Elio plans to build a 120 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the Spanish province of Alicante.
X-Elio will invest nearly 100 million euros in the solar project in the city of Villena.
The developer said on Monday that the project had received a good environmental impact assessment from Spain's Ministry of Ecological Transition and Population Challenges.
The solar power plant, called La Atalaya, should generate 226,231 MWh in its first year, enough to meet the needs of more than 65,000 local households. It will create nearly 200 jobs.
X-Elio noted that it will keep most of La Atalaya's internal evacuation lines underground, thereby minimizing environmental impact.
In addition, the company is developing a range of initiatives to support local communities, such as shrub vegetation screening and animal population control and monitoring.
