Are Waste Lead-acid Batteries Harmful?

Harmful substances in the production of lead-acid batteries include lead, sulfuric acid, carbon black, sulfur, and asphalt. Among them, the most people are exposed to lead and sulfuric acid, and these two substances are also very harmful to operators. my country has now included lead poisoning, carbon black pneumoconiosis, and tooth erosion on the list of legal occupational diseases.

1. Invasion of lead and its hazards

The most important way for lead and its compounds to enter is the respiratory tract, followed by the digestive tract, which cannot be absorbed by intact skin.

2. Invasion route and harm of sulfuric acid

Sulfuric acid is an intrusion route. It is important that the sulfuric acid mist is inhaled from the respiratory tract, causing damage to the operator's teeth and upper respiratory fatigue. Currently included in the list of statutory occupational diseases is tooth erosion. Although the geosensitivity inflammation of the respiratory tract is not included in the statutory occupational diseases, it should also be concerned.

3. Invasion route and harm of carbon black and asphalt

Carbon black mainly causes harm to the human body through the respiratory tract and skin. Long-term inhalation of carbon black by the human body will cause fibrotic lesions in the lungs, which will gradually harden the lung tissues and lose normal respiratory function, resulting in carbon black pneumoconiosis.

Lead-acid battery production company's production processes all have lead dust and lead fumes as the main hazardous substances to varying degrees, and a small number of processes also have sulfuric acid mist.
