Commercialization Of All-solid-state Batteries Will Take At Least Until After 2030

According to reports, a person in charge of battery development at CATL said that CALT all-solid-state batteries are still under development and samples have been made, but commercialization may not be possible until after 2030.

Obviously, CATL still has reservations about all-solid-state batteries. "Is all-solid-state batteries really necessary? Existing liquid lithium-ion batteries are the best choice for electric vehicles in terms of battery efficiency, cost, and cruising range."

Japan's Toyota said it will showcase the latest all-solid-state batteries in some form at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, the specific commercialization details were not disclosed.

All-solid-state batteries are currently possible to exceed the current common lithium-ion battery energy density, simplify the structure and technology, and reduce the cost of the technical route. In terms of specific business routes, the world's top power battery manufacturers remain skeptical about this, and Toyota's approach is obviously the most radical.
