Li-ion Battery Charging Methods And Precautions

Lithium ion battery charging method

Regarding the question of how to charge lithium-ion batteries in normal use, there are different opinions. Some friends say that they need to automatically shut down and recharge when there is no power left. However, some friends say that they can be charged as soon as they are used. The question is, I have been practicing the first statement with actions, but found that it is not necessary to do so. Why?

Reason 1: The lifespan of lithium-ion batteries is generally 300~500 charging cycles. Assuming that the power supplied by a complete discharge is 1Q, regardless of the power reduction in each charging cycle in the future, the lithium-ion battery can supply a total of 300Q~ 500Q of electricity. If you use 1/2 to charge each time, you can charge 600-1000 times; if you use 1/3 each time you charge points, you can charge 900-1500 times; if you charge randomly, the number of times is variable. After all, the power that can be supplemented with 300Q-500Q is stable. Therefore, the life of a lithium-ion battery is related to the total charge capacity of the battery, but has nothing to do with the number of recharges. Deep charging or shallow charging does not have much effect on the life of lithium ion batteries.

Reason 2: In fact, shallow charging and shallow charging are more beneficial for lithium batteries. As long as the product's power module is calibrated for lithium batteries, it is necessary to deep discharge and deep charge. Therefore, in the daily use process, it is not necessary to stick to the photoelectric recharging, and it can be charged at any time with convenience first.

Li-ion battery charging method-matters needing attention

Note 1: Prevent the temperature from being too high during charging

If the temperature during charging is higher than the specified operating temperature (35°C), the power of the lithium-ion battery will be continuously reduced, that is, the power supply time under full charge will be shortened, which will damage the battery quality and reduce the battery life.

Note 2: Prevent the temperature from being too low during charging

If the battery is in a low temperature environment (below 4°C) during charging, the battery's power will continue to decrease, or even fail to charge, but the situation is different from that in a high temperature environment. It is not permanently damaged. When the temperature rises to a suitable level When the time, the battery power will return to the previous state.

Note 3: Frequently used

Frequent use will make the electrons in the lithium-ion battery always active, which is conducive to the extension of its life. If you don't use it often, remember to complete a charging cycle for lithium-ion batteries every month, that is, deep discharge and deep charge once.
