The German renewable energy developer ABO Wind has commissioned the company to deploy the company's first independent battery energy storage system in Cycers in Northern Ireland.
ABO Wind has opened the operation of this 50MW/25MWH battery energy storage system. The project is said to be one of the fastest -response energy storage systems in the world, with a response time of less than 150 milliseconds. The project is also the largest grid -connected energy energy project in ABO Wind. So far, the company has deployed some industrial micro -power grids and deployment of energy storage systems with solar power facilities.
This battery energy storage system will provide power grid balance services to power grid operators Eirgrid and SONI to help respond to power fluctuations from wind power fields. The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland set the goal of 70%of electricity from 2030.
Nidec ASI is a system integrator of this energy storage project. The continuous discharge time of the project is 30 minutes. So far, the company has deployed more than 1.6GWh energy storage systems worldwide and has been selected for the 1021 battery energy storage system integrators selected by the research institution IHS Markit.
Susi Partners, a Swiss infrastructure investor headquartered in Switzerland, acquired the project from Abo Wind in October 2021 through its energy storage fund, and Abo Wind will monitor the technology and business operation management of the battery energy storage system.
