The flag bearers of the Chinese sports delegation to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing are speed skating men's athlete Gao Tingyu and steel-frame snowmobile women's athlete Zhao Dan.
Gao Tingyu, born on December 15, 1997, in Yichun, Heilongjiang Province, is a Chinese speed skater. In 2016, Gao was selected to the Chinese speed skating team. At the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Gao won the bronze medal in the speed skating men's 500m race with a time of 34 seconds 65, becoming the first Chinese male skater to win a medal in speed skating event at the Winter Olympics. In February 2020 Gao Tianyu skated a personal best of 34:282 at the World Speed Skating Individual Championships, and on September 26, 2021, he set his personal national record for speed skating men's 500m with a time of 33.83 seconds in the China Cup Speed Skating Elite League. Meanwhile, entering the Olympic season, Gao Tingyu's form was more stable at the World Cup Stages, and skated under 34 seconds several times. In the Beijing Winter Olympics, Gao will participate in the speed skating men's 500m and other competitions.
Zhao Dan, the female, born on December 14, 2002, in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is a Chinese steel-frame snowmobile athlete who was selected for the Chinese steel-frame snowmobile team in September 2018. 2019-2020 season she represented China for the first time in the Youth Olympic Games in Switzerland and finished seventh. She won the Intercontinental Cup in Innsbruck in the 2021-2022 season. Her best result in the World Cup was 15th place. She will represent China in the women's steel-frame snowmobile competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
