Golf Carts

Golf carts, also known as electric golf carts and motorized golf carts, are environmentally friendly passenger vehicles designed and developed specifically for golf courses.

According to ANSI standard z130.1, golf carts come in a variety of forms, such as 2-seat, 4-seat and 6-seat, and are more commonly used to transport small numbers of passengers over short distances at speeds shorter than 15 mph (24 km / h). Originally manufactured. They are typically about 4 ft (1.2 m) wide x 8 ft (2.4 m) long x 6 ft (1.8 m) high and weigh between 900 lb (410 kg) and 1,000 lb (450 kg). Most are powered by four-stroke engines.

Golf carts can range in price from under $1,000 to over $20,000 per vehicle, depending on several factors. These factors can include, for example, whether a fleet is being purchased for a golf course or country club, and whether the carts are new or used. Other factors may include options, such as equipment requirements and how many people the carts will be transporting. With the popularity of golf carts, many golf clubs or country clubs offer storage and energy options for golf cart owners. This has resulted in modifications to the golf cart to fit on a particular golf course. Typical modifications include windshields, ball cleaners, cooler trays, upgraded electric motors or speed controllers (to increase speed and/or torque), and lift kits.

Initially, golf carts were electric only, but over time, gasoline-powered variants emerged. The electric variety is now used in many communities where there are fewer pollutants, less noise, and the safety of pedestrians and other carts (due to low speeds) is beneficial. When used exclusively for general transportation, these are called Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs), but due to various operational restrictions, such as maximum speed and strict regulations on which types of streets are allowed to use these types of trolleys. They may be similar to the golf carts shown above, although some are now made with all-weather car-like bodies.

Other types of golf carts

Adaptive golf carts

New technologies such as the SoloRider (an adaptive golf cart designed for a single user) allow people with disabilities to access the golf course and the game itself. The cart's seat swivels, extends to an upright position, and allows the golfer to stand, brace, and swing with both hands.

Customized golf carts

Golf carts can be modified from their original configuration to perform similar operations to those that are becoming increasingly popular with side-by-side (UTV). Minor modifications like suspension upgrades are commonplace, while entire redesigns may include the axles and engines of full-size cars.

Some custom golf carts are inspired by skateboards, where all four wheels are driven and the golfer controls the cart in an upright position, like riding a skateboard, leaning to the left or right to make turns.
