1: Introduction of lithium-polymer battery

Basic Information

Lithium polymer battery (Li-polymer, also known as lithium polymer battery): high energy, miniaturization, and lightweight compared to the previous battery, chemical nature of the battery. The three elements of a general battery: a positive electrode, negative electrode, and electrolyte. The so-called lithium polymer battery is a battery system that uses polymer materials in at least one or more of the three elements. In lithium polymer battery systems, most of the polymer materials are used in the cathode and electrolyte. The cathode material is a conductive polymer or inorganic compound used in general lithium-ion batteries, the cathode is often a lithium metal or lithium-carbon interlayer compound, and the electrolyte is a solid or colloidal polymer electrolyte or an organic electrolyte. Since there is no excess electrolyte in lithium polymer, it is more reliable and stable.

2、Lithium polymer battery

Lithium polymer batteries are a newer generation of batteries, which entered the market in large quantities in 1999. Lithium polymer batteries are basically the same as lithium-ion batteries, except that the electrolyte is a solid polymer, not a liquid electrolyte. The polymer electrolyte material is a plain film consisting of a solute in which the subject polymer, such as an oxide of polyethylene, acts as an immobile solvent. The advantages of lithium polymer batteries are that they can be made in any shape and are relatively light because they do not contain heavy metals and have a plastic shell that keeps the electrolyte from leaking. They both perform better, ideally with a capacity of several thousand mA⋅h, and are safer. The solid electrolyte acts like a hermetic gel and does not readily disintegrate during charging.

Advantages of use

1. No battery leakage problem, its battery does not contain liquid electrolyte inside, using the solid in gel form.

2. Can be made into a thin battery: with a capacity of 3.6V400mAh, its thickness can be as thin as 0.5mm.

3. The battery can be designed into various shapes.

4. The battery can be bent and deformed: the polymer battery can be bent about 90 degrees at the maximum. 5.

5. High voltage can be made into a single cell: liquid electrolyte battery can only be connected in series with several cells to get high voltage, but polymer battery can be made into multi-layer combination in a single cell to achieve high voltage because there is no liquid in itself.

6. Capacity will be double than the same size of lithium-ion batteries.

As lithium polymer battery makes lithium secondary battery safety and cycle performance are guaranteed, and has the advantages of high specific energy, wide operating temperature range, smooth operating voltage, long storage life, etc., is known as "the most promising chemical power".
