Iran has built a 200000 square meter solar power station in Damgan City, Semnan Province, in the northeast, with a total installed capacity of 10 megawatts and an annual power generation capacity of 18 million kilowatt-hours. The power station, which cost about 6 million euros, has been connected to Iran's national power grid and can supply power to the whole country. This measure shows the determination of the current government to make a leap in the field of renewable energy infrastructure, which was neglected by the previous government.
It is estimated that the power generation capacity of Damgan Solar Power Station is equivalent to 1.6 million barrels of oil saved annually, which can reduce Iran's loss by 133 million dollars at the export price of 80 dollars. On the other hand, the solar power station will prevent 16000 tons of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere every year, playing a special role in protecting the environment.
