The Spanish Ecological Transformation Department (Miteco) has authorized 132 solar photovoltaic projects across the country with a total capacity of 24.8GW.
From December 31st, 2017-June 25, 2020, all projects of all projects that have obtained a favorable environmental process Declaración de IMPACTO Ambiental (DIA) have been merged into the grid. The last period of the environmental approval is January 25, 2023. 100%of the renewable energy projects for environmental process review before this date were reviewed.
Most of the projects (88%) approved by Miteco come from solar photovoltaic, and the total amount of two approval mixed projects reaches 294MW. Miteco reviewed more than 50MW project
Among the solar photovoltaic capacity reviewed by the Spanish government, more than half of the Castile and Leon (7GW), Madrid (5.9GW) and Castile La Mancha (5GW) (5GW)
Miteco reviewed the 35.8GW renewable energy application, and approved the 27.9GW solar, wind energy and mixed projects in 12 regions in Spain. Only Catalonia and CANTABRIA have not obtained DIAs. The three autonomous regions of Madrid, Extremadura and Murcia have only solar photovoltaic project applications. The latter two regions were approved by all projects, and Madrid was rejected with 1.3GW solar photovoltaic.

STATKRAFT is one of the companies that have recently obtained a solar photovoltaic project environment in Spain. The total project is 613MW and is expected to start construction in 2024.
At the same time, Spain increased 2.5GW's self -use solar last year. The installed capacity in 2021 became a total of 5.25GW.
