According to a new report from IEA-PVPS, as of the end of 2021, the cumulative installed capacity of Japanese solar photovoltaics reached 78.4GW. By the end of 2023, the cumulative capacity of the Japanese market may reach 90GW.
Among all new installed capacity this year, large solar projects are 2.5GW-3GW, and the rest are roof photovoltaic, especially industrial and commercial power generation systems.
The reasons for the low realization rate of large projects include: 1. No compulsory project completion timetable; 2. Future FIT's uncertainty and developer expectation The system cost continues to decline; 3. Get land rights and turn agricultural land into industrial land for industrial land It is very difficult; 4. Due to the limitation of the power grid capacity, the resistance of power grid companies increases.
Analysis agency predicts that the new photovoltaic capacity in Japan in 2022 and 2023 is about 5GW-6GW. Among them, the market share between centralized and distributed projects will not change significantly.
According to Japan Economic Shimbun, the recent Japanese Metropolitan Government and the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) are jointly formulating new rules to support the development of photovoltaic roof in Japan.
The authorities plan to introduce new compulsory photovoltaic requirements for new buildings and houses from 2025. The municipal government first announced a plan for compulsory solar energy requirements in early September this year. At present, the Tokyo Metropolitan Council is still discussing these plans.
For new regulations, if they are approved, they may be suitable for buildings with a roof area of more than 20 square meters and a building with a total area of less than 2000 square meters. The new regulations may also require enterprises to install solar panels on a 30%roof area. Some areas of Tokyo may face 85%of the roofs covered by photovoltaic coverage.
