NHOA to deploy 30MWh battery energy storage project in Peru

Australian energy storage solutions provider NHOA (formerly Engie EPS) has announced that it has signed an agreement to develop and deploy a 30MWh battery storage system for Peruvian utility Engie Energía Perú.

NHOA will install the battery energy storage system on-site at an 800MW Chilca thermal power plant operated by Engie Energía Perú in Peru, which mainly provides frequency regulation services for the country's power grid.

The signing of the agreement marks a doubling of NHOA's energy storage revenue in 2021, and follows the company's deployment of 200MWh and 420MWh battery storage systems in Australia and Taiwan, respectively.

The Chilca battery energy storage project will be developed by NHOA Energy using teams at its engineering centers in Italy and the Americas.

Last February, NHOA expanded its activities in the US market, deploying a 10MWh battery storage system in Massachusetts, and awarded two other contracts with Kearsage Energy.
