Israel-based robotic companion startup Intuition Robotics Ltd. announced Thursday that it has closed a $36 million Series B round led by Japanese asset manager SPARX Group Co. and Jerusalem-based equity crowdfunding firm OurCrowd Ltd. Toyota AI Ventures, Sompo Holdings, iRobot, Union Tech Ventures, Happiness Capital, Samsung Next, Capital Point and Bloomberg Beta also participated. The round brings the company’s total raised to date to $58 million, according to a company statement.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in the Greater Tel Aviv region of Israel, with offices in Silicon Valley and Greece, Intuition Robotics develops and sells the ElliQ robot, which is intended to serve as a social companion for the elderly. According to the company, ElliQ can encourage older adults to live more active and engaged lives and help them communicate with their families using digital means.
